I want Logan to be the one that does the breaking up because I do want them to be equals in their relationship and so far Veronica has walked all over his heart and hasn't shown the same amount of vulnerability toward him. It would be something new and different for the show to see these characters learning from their mistakes and standing up for themselves. I would like it to be her fault and for Logan to finally self respect enough to say "either love me and trust me or forget about it." I want ALL of that and agree it would be a very satisfying arc to see this season. I just don't think it will happen and that's why I keep getting upset. Last season we perceived the breakup as partially Veronica's fault and a lot of fans struggled with her side and even took Logan's side (Me!Me!Me!). The reason I doubt Logan will be growing a spine and standing up for himself with Veronica is a) he's never done it before and this show has a problem with 'growth' in the central characters, b) I just don't see them wanting to make Veronica the bad guy or ever thinking about her that way in her relationship with Logan. (Especially given how the contrast between Logan and Piz is being drawn) They've all been saying that LoVe will be together until Logan screws up again (that sort of selective memory where no one on the cast recalls that Veronica did anything at all to him). Maybe those interviews are just decoys. I hope they're just decoys and we get to see something new, get to see Veronica's trust issues exposed and explored for the benefit of her relationship with Logan. I don't really imagine it happening though there is always hope. B xxx

Something tells me Rob will bend over backwards to make sure Veronica doesn't feel the wrath of the fans again. I would love, love, love to be proven wrong... but I don't see it happening.

I think we're doomed to Logan the fuck-up for sure if we get a full season. If the show IS cancelled, I'm hoping the fucking-up is meant to take place in the 2nd or 3rd arc and therefore we don't witness it. I can think of some scenarios where he screws up not out of anger at someone dissing him, but of someone doing harm to Veronica or Keith. That way, the audience would be on his side, and Veronica and/or Keith would be conflicted and therefore would also be sympathetic. In fact, this would be an organic way to proceed with their relationship, bring the inevitable drama in their lives, and still not force the fans to choose between Logan and Veronica as happened in season 2.

That way, we're on Logan's side because he didn't do it, and we understand why Veronica dumps him because it really looks like he did do it, even though we know he didn't. Posts: 115 (09/19/06 19:12:21) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	See, I think that the audience will still hate Veronica, because if she breaks up with him, she must not have talked to him so that he could explain he didn't cheat--and if she talks to him and he tells her the truth and she doesn't believe him, the Logan fans will hate Veronica for her still not trusting him. I don't think the cheating scenario is something the show can do well and I feel it's a plot contrivement. On the other hand, Logan using his primal protection instincts to protect/avenge Veronica (maybe convincing himself and us that he has become a changed person and is doing this for good) would definitely invoke sympathy...I am really hoping they go this way because I can see this leading to tremendous conflict between V/L without either of them losing their feelings for each other.

I think this will work better than starting a new thread each time. Anyway, the Director's Cut for 3.02 is up. Go here and scroll down in the list of videos. The opening scene is not up yet (assuming we'll continue to get both). This was MUCH better than the director's cut for Welcome Wagon. I'm really excited about this episode. The look on Veronica's face when she walks in and they start singing is hilarious. I seriously about busted a gut.

For 2 seasons I couldn't stomach the guy for this exact reason, for the way he taunted a rape victim. And I am guessing some things never change, including my inability to look at Lamb without wanting to throw up. No matter how many semi-cute scenes RT writes for him. Urgh.

I don't care how awesome a person Michael Muhney is. Lamb is a despicable, pathetic human being and I despise the character. Completely. I've never gotten over his treatment of her in the Pilot and nothing that has happened in the following two years has erased that, instead it's only added to it. Lamb however is an asshole and I will never understand people in this fandom who 'loathe' Logan but 'adore' Lamb. Lamb being a guy who laughed in a girls face when she came to report a rape...now he's taunting her again. Yup hypocrisy dudes.

For the first time in a long time, I really, really felt for Veronica. I know that sounds bad, but I was so pissed off at her through most of S2 and her attitude was so frustrating that I didn't care, but in that scene I really felt for her feeling of guilt and it was just really, really well done. He isn't human, he's a monster, I don't get this whole 'love to hate him' thing. How can you love to hate a guy who taunts rape victums, ignores anyone who doesn' live in the 09er zip code and well, is just inhuman. He's evil, pure evil. Gah he makes me wanna jump into the TV and slap him EVERY time I see him on.

But Lamb is just so horrible and horrible isn't bad enough to describe that character. I just hate believing that there is a cop out there like this. Especially after that crying wolf comment and they always do. I just dont understand how people can love that character. All I think the character is, is a foil to Veronica and that's it. He is a merciless, inhuman, malicious, jerk and I hust cannot stand the character. Thinking about it just makes me sick! I do have to give Michael his props though. You can see through his interviews and the things he does how nice he is. But when he plays that character, Pure Jerk! That is talent!

And, according to all reports, a lovely person. I have absolutely no problem distinguishing between him and his character. Having said that, I will never, could never find Lamb charming, interesting, or at all human. And it was set up that way from the pilot. Had he been just a political animal, an opportunistic asshat, or simply a bad cop, I could see the "love to hate" thing. But the fact that he would treat a broken traumatized girl like that? I can't erase that, I can't rationalize that away, just like I can't condone it in any way, shape, or form. It's, by extention, the same problem I have with Dick. I know he is hurting. I realize that, maybe, there's a human somewhere in there. I applaude Logan for not giving up on him. But, this is Dick, the guy who "gave" Veronica to his little borther. The guy to whom it wasn't appauling or terrible to contemplate rape. The guy who attempted a date rape himself (he drugged Medison's drink so she'd have sex with him). I can't get past that. I just can't. I can be mildly amused at his antics. I can admire Ryan Henson's acting. But I can't like Dick. Some things are just unforgivable. Just like in retrospect I can't like Cassidy anymore, no matter what abuse he suffered. Liking him for me is akin to accepting Woody Goodman's explanation that all he wanted was to be a "father figure" to those boys. There are no excuses for rape. There are no excuses for laughing at and denegrating rape victims. There just aren't.

That's like . . . sacrificing yourself to spare her. I'm glad Veronica had the courage to do it because it must be hard to tell someone you did nothing to help them - I was cringing the whole time. The girl was still distraught, not thinking clearly and then Veronica says she was there . . . ouch. I tried to imagine being Parker when a friend says they walked in and did nothing. I can't. I really can't. I think it was well played on both counts. Veronica opened her mouth to defend herself self righteously at the end and again I started whispering "don't do it! don't say it!" and then she couldn't get the words out and I was SO. RELIEVED. You can't say "I'm sorry, I thought you were having consensual sex" to a rape victim and expect them to understand your misunderstanding. I'm glad Veornica stopped herself and KB played that guilt really well, cutting her instinctive defensive comments off and then staying silent. I think when the guilt has stopped torturing her she'll gain perspective on all the 09er girls who thought she was a slut (wrongly) and therefore didn't think she was in trouble either during what happened at Shelly's. It's all about perspective and you probably wouldn't even notice another girl in trouble if you had a slutty, negative opinion of their morals. I think they did surprisingly well with a sensitive issue and I think if her head wasn't shaved Parker would have a really hard time proving a rape because in the terrible judicial system they just don't care about girls who sleep around (or are seen to). I'm kind of disappointed we'll only get one Logan/Veronica scene in this episode. The last time the rape issue came up between them in 1.21 had the two most intimate LoVe conversations the show has ever had. I'd just like to see Logan's compassionate side flexed in a conversation with her - comforting her for the guilt maybe. I'd like to see a closeness between them on the deeper emotional level we haven't seen so far this season. But he's doing something completely different in this episode and probably won't be anywhere near her. That sucks. I hope their one scene isn't pointless and they actually show that he's there for her.

I agree with all of your points regarding that scene, Belinda. A wonderful Veronica, a heroine we can all get behind even when she screws up. And whaddya know, Diane Ruggiero wrote ep 2 ... not Rob Thomas. Honestly, right now I'm just adoring what Diane was able to do with that one scene. But Diane did such a wonderful job (and props to the direction and KB) in showing me the Veronica that I love so much. I didn't really love Veronica in the premiere. But this Veronica? This girl? This screwed up young woman who's been through hell and is still willing to do the right thing, see that justice is done, even when she's going to get some hell? That's my Veronica. I like Parker already ... a lot, but despite the fact that such a horrible thing had just happened to her, my sympathy and love was with Veronica. Because that's my Veronica.
