They have clips up on the CW site here. Of course, it's all PIZ! And the image on the screen on the side is Veronica and Piz. And some wonder why I'm not looking forward to the season. How can I when it's just screaming in our face what they are promoting.

Well, one thing can be said upon viewing this preview. Piz (the actor) is just as bad as TD. Yeesh.
ETA: I wouldn't worry about Piz or the show's promotion of him. Based on this preview, I have a strange feeling that he's a decoy. I don't know why, but I really feel that there's something else that we're not getting and it has nothing to do with Piz. |

To heck with them. They can promote whomever they want, but the reality is that interesting, complex, compelling characters portrayed by good actors with range and depth are the ones that resonate with the viewers.
They can plaster this Piz guy all over the net, they can photograph him and Veronica brading each other's hair, for that matter, it's not going to get him the love. Bottom line is: if he is as bland, cheesy, and one-dimentional as he comes off so far, the showrunners might not find as much universal love for the guy as they seem to expect. I am looking forward to the new season, mostly because I miss Logan. His face may not be plastered all over the place, but I know I am not alone. I am looking forward to Logan doing pretty much anything, even if it's reading a phone book with those wild hand gestures of his. LOL. How many TV characters can I say that about?

Remember that these clips were often edited versions of the opening scenes. This clip is so boring that I suspect much of the scene was trimmed. Often the most important part of the scenes were cut. I recall Logan being cut completely out of at one of them.
In fact, I don't know if this is from the opening scene. Piz isn't being introduced to Veronica or the audience. "Same dren, different planet." |

This clip reminds me a little of season 1. Like Wallace bringing Veronica a prospective client. That was probably the only thing I liked about the preview. Though it did seem a little like Veronica didn't really care for Piz much. She seemed to think he was just like every other guy. Whereas Logan is special because their relationship is epic. I have hope for LoVe this season, even though it isn't being heavily promoted. I figure just because Piz is going to be a love interest doesn't mean that Veronica will go out with him.

I dunno if this is RT's doing or the networks, even both but they just seem to be glossing over the fact Logan exists. The guy that 99% of the fandom adore and consider the hero, the heartthrob the number one love interest and he's glossed over.....yeah, real smart.
Chris Lowell gets on my nerves I'm sorry but I watched LAWKI once and he even made Kelly Osbourne look a good actress which she is of course not. I think its cos he talks really damn fast...annoying much??  |

And of course, we've seen not ONE SHOT OF JASON DOHRING!!! Grrrr. Sorry, I'd like to believe things will be okay, but yeah, I still don't trust Rob Thomas. Never will. Not ever season two. |

You know, I thought that when the channels merged we would finally get good promotions. Have you seen the amount of promos Supernatural has for their actors and guest stars? We're on the same freakin' channel. I don't understand why the VM PR team aren't pimping the shit out of every character on the show. That includes Wallace and Mac and Keith and Logan and Veronica and even Dick. I'm remembering the Buffy and Roswell days when I was drowning in promo shots of all the cast in character as well as magazine cast shoots and solo interviews. Why doesn't VM get promoted that way? I know Buffy had a high point but that show wasn't always swimming in popularity and Roswell had very similar ratings to Veronica Mars so I don't understand why those shows got promoted so much better . . .
I want to hate the fact they are glossing over Logan's existence but I feel like every aspect of the show has been glossed over. Even KB. Normally I don't like that she's the only one that gets promoted because well . . . Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn't the only star with a magazine spread on Buffy and you shouldn't only promote your lead especially when you have one of the best ensemble casts. I think the promotion of this show, well, sucks. I'm not surprised Piz talks so fast either since RT has been saying in almost every interview that he has "a lot of words." It will be hard to imagine Veronica eventually falling for him though. I know she's quippy and has a lot of words too but it's different. And yeah, sorry about the Buffy comparisons but it would be like Buffy caving in to Xander. Ah. No. She's out of his league because he simply cannot meet her as an equal in the same way that Leo couldn't meet her as an equal. B xxx  |

This would also explain why no one is saying word one about KB her erroneous, horrific-PR comments, counteracting her or trying to stop her. And maybe the lack of Jason is because they like him and want to do another show with him and think the best shot of promoting him for that is to keep him as far away from VM as possible. Who knows? I can't think of anything else that makes sense for this lack of promotion for the ship and the arguably most popular character. |

The reason that they're promoting Supernatural (and One Tree Hill, too) so heavily is that both shows are up against huge competition (much much more than VM, and more than VM had last year)...I think VM has been promoted quite well and the fact is that its got a very good chance to pull in good ratings just based on placement on the schedule and a good lead in. I think the CW brass believes that as well.
Supernatural and One Tree Hill on the other hand face real intense competition and are really going to have an uphill struggle to keep their ratings--especially Supernatural, since it's up against Grey's Anatomy and CSI (CSI not posing as much a threat as Grey's). |

VM is against House -- which KICKED it's ass s1 and is already doing wonderfully ratings-wise. In addition it's also opposite: the new shows Knights of Prosperity/Help Me on ABC, L&O:CI on NBC and CBS's The Unit which inexplicably kicked butts ratings-wise.
And just an FYI, CSI is the #1 rated-drama and many believe it will still hold position against GA, so it's the bigger thread to SPN, not GA. |

For the first month, House will be on at 8:00 instead of 9:00...and it is the only competition even when it's moved to the 9:00 time slot, whereas the other shows have alot more to contend with besides the big hitters. I believe that that is the CW thinking and I don't think they're wrong.
ETA: I defintely think House is the big competition for VM this year...I also sort of remember that in season one, there was a lot more competition besides House...wasn't Amazing Race also on at the same time as well as some other really popular shows? As far as the other shows, I don't really see much competition at all. Which can also be a double-edge sword, since the expectations will be higher due to the lack of competition. |

I'm trying to be patient, but ... "Veronica and boyfriend Logan..." text + Veronica and Piz pictures = WEIRD. |

Just wait for American Idol, that's the big Tuesday ratings grabber.
The thing is, if VM doesn't retain its lead in numbers, it is gone. Gilmore Girls can hold its own, ratings wise and it is a HUGE lead in for VM. If VM doesn't retain at least 50%, it needs to be cancelled. I'm sorry, but other shows suffer the same fate. Supernatural moved to Thursdays last season and retained over 50% from Smallville. CW isn't looking to beat the major networks, they simply can't. The only one they'll watch is FOX and they still won't beat them, most of the time. But CW has shows that can beat FOX shows. Smallville did and that's why OC moved to 9pm. The thing the execs. will watch are ratings compared to last season and retention numbers for their 9pm shows. I'm not putting my stock on RT or KB. My money is on JD. He will continue to draw the audience. His popularity is the show's lifeline and the sooner RT accepts that, the better. |

American Idol on Tuesdays is broadcast at 8:00. It's competition for Gilmore Girls.
ETA: I agree that VM has to keep the GG audience. It has to be a lot more than 50%. But I don't agree about JD being the key as much as I like him. He's a key part, but by himself he won't make or break the show. It's about the stories grabbing the audience...and from what I've read, I think VM has a good recipe this year. |

The same deal is on Tuesdays -- House is the show to watch out for because of its younger viewers; The Unit gets good ratings but skews too old to be much of a threat to VM. House was actually the highest-rated drama on TV this past season after GA and CSI. It beat Lost, which was fourth. So getting away from Lost doesn't help us that much in the grand scheme of things. As for the clip -- hated it. Hate the actor. Hate Piz. The end. We don't need another airheaded white boy ogling chicks and offering up comic relief -- that's what Dick is for. Ryan Hansen is also much better-looking *and* can deliver a line. This is what Rob is spending his cast budget on? Where are the females? Where are the minorities? This is ridiculous. |

Right, right about CSI/GA, I was thinking of overall the commentary has been pro CSI and that GA won't hold up.
Yeah, Piz is annoying and I'm shallow, but I don't care, I think he's fug and it's just stupid, stupid, stupid. |
