Hi. I'm a newbie to the board. Okay, well, I lurk compulsively. I had something I wanted to say. Well, first, thanks for the cool board.

Next, once upon a time, I was a crazed fan of this show called Roswell. (Yes. I was one of those. Oh my.) The second season had been going horribly. No attention to continuity. No attention to details at all. Character development was uneven and all over the place. And the couples we loved were being crushed and killed (some literally). The showrunner, Jason Katims, was making all sorts of nasty condescending comments about the fans in his interviews, etc.

During the last few weeks before the finale, we started getting a series of spoilers from a guy who claimed to have seen a screener copy of the finale. And his spoilers were wonderful! Characters' motivations were better. The couples we liked got back together. Etc. Etc. Everyone was excited and watched the finale, despite the fact that other spoilers existed saying pretty much the exact opposite of EVERYTHING we had been hearing from this guy. Most of us didn't have Nielson boxes, but we created a huge buzz with this guy's spoilers which, in retrospect, probably helped the very small fanbase unite to watch the finale.

Alas, the guy was lying about the spoilers from start to finish. It became evident that he was some network production assistant who had been sent to make sure the bitter online fans were going to show up for the finale.

Here's the thing ... this guy who has brought these spoilers to you may be telling the truth. If so, great. That's very nice of him. Thank you very much. However, I think everyone should be very careful about believing these spoilers because it could very well be what happened to Roswell's fanbase, and I'd really hate to see you guys go through what we did.

And if it IS some production assistant ... here's the thing, possible tv production guy ... after we got those foilers and saw something different in the finale, the fanbase realized it had been lied to. It was not a good thing to do. Jason Katims became hated, I mean, seriously hated, after that. Personally, I will never watch a show that guy is involved in ever again. Ever. For any reason. I wouldn't care if Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and Jason Dohring were in it at the same time. No. Not happening.

The fans who were fed the lies and watched the show, including myself, stopped watching the show after that altogether. So, the next season bit the dust. Any buzz is not good buzz. Let me repeat that in case RT's office is reading this. Negative buzz is not to be mistaken as having the same effect as positive buzz. It does not. That's some Hollywood doo-doo handed down in meetings with network executives who wouldn't know entertainment if you slapped them in the face with it.

It's an enormous mistake to lie to your fanbase.

Okay, in any case, I hope that wasn't too off-topic to go with the finale spoilers posted here. I just needed to talk to you all about this possibility. Thanks for the spoilers and for the cool site. I hope I haven't intruded too much. It just looks like a super familiar scenario, and I hope I'm wrong about that. What happened to the fans during Roswell really changed my approach to television. If I find myself getting too invested, I back away and don't watch. That show destroyed a lot of my more basic enjoyment of television, because it revealed some things about show runners and their egos that I didn't need to know, I guess.
