I'm in Austin and am already having a great time. We spent most of yesterday picking people up from the airport, which ended up being a very lucky thing because we ran into Rob Thomas while we were there! He was so nice I can't believe it. I got my picture taken with him, so I'll post it when I get back. Rob's wife was really sweet and talked to us quite a bit. His daughter was adorable and kept waving to us. Rob told us he had just gotten back from receiving an award from the AFI, which he was really excited about. He mentioned being there with people like Steven Spielberg and George Clooney and I believe he even mentioned the word "fanboy." It was just a really great start to the weekend. Hopefully, I'll have more great stories to share soon. The only bummer is Enrico is sick and had to cancel, but at least the rest of the group will still be there. Talk to you soon.

I was going to post about how sad I am that I am NOT there. We all should be and they should do more freaking appearances. I was going up until the point in which they practically canceled most of the event. I was so angry, I never even kept up with what it turned out to be. A 2 hour event? They all say they love the fans so much, I think they should tour more than they do. Anyway, glad to hear TLP70 is having fun! We appreciate the feedback for all of us who are unable to attend. The whole chance meeting Rob in the airport is SO awesome. Amazing. Well, as I said, I am very sad I am not there now , but I am happy to hear all about the experience. Savor it for all of us! Thanks!

I really want to know what clips they showed (specifically what L/V clips). I'm also extremely curious about the Q&A tonight. I read on someone's lj that there was a very anti-Duncan vibe at one point, but she didn't give any details. So if anyone could elaborate (whatever you can without revealing any ep. 11 spoilers), that would be awesome. I'm really curious what types of questions were asked and what the answers were. Obviously I don't expect the cast or RT to say much bad about TD, because they know him and like him, but I'm just curious.

I don't even know where to begin. The night was just amazing. It started with the Fire Marshalls of Bethlehem playing 5 or 6 songs and then Rob, Kristen, Jason and Michael were introduced. Rob talked a bit and then started introducing his favorite clips. Some of the clips were the original cold open, Kristen and Enrico arguing from YTYKS, The "cojones" scene from TGND, The poolhouse scene from AEFC, The "Rim Job" scene from MvM, The "kiss" scene, the argument between L/V from ATttD, the Duncan rape reveal scene, the beach scene from LitB, and the final "I was hoping it was you" scene. There were probably more, but I can't remember them all. I have to say one of the cutest moments was when they aired the "who's at the door scene," Jason tapped Kristen and then smiled and pointed to himself saying, "that was me!" OMG, it was adorable!! Rob commented on each clip, but there wasn't really anything really new. Of course, the "kiss" scene illicited the biggest reaction and there were some boos during the Teddy scene. Rob said, "you guys are really hard on Teddy Dunn, but he's great in this scene." Yeah, whatever. We saw episode 11 and then the cast came out for a Q & A session. The question was asked about Veronica not calling Duncan out on any of his crap, but Rob still believe Logan is the bad boy and Duncan is the good guy. And yes, he used those words. Kristen even said that Duncan was the only person who has ever shown Veronica true compassion and true love. Lady Disdain, who asked the question, very clearly said "Bull Shit!" which pretty much ended any further discussion on the subject. Overall, the vibe was very much Pro-Logan, but there were some Duncan fans there unfortunately. After the Q & A, the cast signed autographs. We weren't allowed to pose for pic's with the cast, so that kind of sucked, but I guess it's no big deal. Michael Muhney gave me a hug after recognizing me as the person who added him to the credits. He even signed the autograph to "My Queen Cleo," which was awesome. Rob remembered meeting me at the airport, so that made me feel special for some stupid reason. The best thing is that Jason is the greatest guy ever. I mentioned that I have the "kiss" jacket and he told me I better bring it tomorrow for him to sign. He was actually really excited about it! OMFG! I can't believe it! That's really about it for now. So much happened that it's hard to remember all the details. I am incredibly amused that Jason said "fuck" 3 times. I know I'm strange. Actually, Michael and Kristen said it too. I guess it's cool that they seemed like "normal" people talking to us. Well, that's it for now. I'll post more tomorrow if something exciting happens. I need to get sleep now!

How screwed up is that? Why are RT and Kristen always defending Duncan? I don't get it and frankly it makes me sad.

I listened to a phone post by someone who was there that mentioned this question (at least I'm assuming he was referring to the same question). He said RT seemed unprepared and caught off guard by the question. And that he was basically asked to defend Duncan's behavior and really didn't. Anyway, it doesn't bother me that he would describe Logan as the "bad boy" because, yeah, in the tv/movie cliche sense he is, but that doesn't mean he's "bad." So whatever on that. But Duncan the "good guy"? I know that doesn't mean RT thinks he's perfect or anything, but blech. I guess in a strictly superficial comparison to Logan that's the role he plays in the "triangle," but it's so simplistic and not really true on a deeper level that it makes no sense to say that. And go LadyD on her BS to Kristen's comment! That cracks me up. But I can see how it would end the discussion. And if we're looking for someone who's shown Veronica true compassion, my first thought would be Wallace. And then would be Logan in ATttD. I can't think of one instance of Duncan showing her any real compassion at all. And if "true love" means secrecy, a complete inability to communicate, and a total disregard for who Veronica really is, then okay, that's Duncan. Otherwise, umm, no. But consistent with KB's previous comments. I'm just glad it wasn't RT that said that. That's awesome that MM remembered you for those credits! So did you bring the jacket with you? Are you going to bring it? Also, I'm sad that Enrico couldn't be there. I hope he feels better soon. They don't need to say "Duncan sucks" or anything, but they don't have to go out of their way to make him into this great character and great guy, either. If you don't want to say anything bad, then just don't answer the question. There are a million ways to dodge it without saying anything bad and also without going the other direction and saying great things about him.

I have to applaud LadyDisdain for having the courage to speak her mind however much it cut short the questioning. It sounds like the stars were lovely in person and I'm glad you got a chance to have such a wonderful time. Although - you know - it's probably a good thing I wasn't there because I don't know if I could have restrained myself from asking Rob - seriously dude - what's up with all this Duncan BS? (using JD speak. Oh wait - I'd have to throw in a fuck to be totally realistic. Let's see) Seriously dude - what the fuck is up with all this Duncan BS? (hee, hee - okay -I probably wouldn't have had the nerve but I'd be thinking it) Oh well, I'm glad so many people got a chance to interact with the actors and meet each other and have so much fun. I would have loved to have gone. The spoiler would be having to listen to RT & Kristen continually praise Donut. We all get it- you like Teddy Dunn ! But the truth is he sucks as an actor compared to the rest of the cast. And Donut is no Prince Charming! That is driving me crazy, I can't believe how they try to make Donut this pure & true hero. Cheers to LadyDisdain !! I'm glad you spoke out, not just for yourself but for all those who aren't buying this load of crap that RT is trying to sell us!! Except for that session, it all sounds like fun. How frigging cute is Jason? Sorry to hear that Enrico was sick & I hope he is soon feeling better. I hope that the rest of the weekend is fun & I pray you all have a safe trip home.
