It has come to our attention that some writers have been lax in editing their stories for proper grammar prior to posting on the board. This is not acceptable. The entire board operates under a stringent grammar policy so that reading is an easier and more enjoyable experience for members and guests. FANFICTION IS NOT EXCLUDED from that policy.

In response to this problem we have decided to forewarn writers that we WILL be enforcing the grammar policy in this forum from now on. Fanfic - as literature - should have better quality grammar than discussion posts but we are leniently judging authors by the same standard. Stories only need to be of a readable quality (read the grammar policy linked above for a clearer guide).

The occasional typo or grammatical error is understandable and acceptable; we're not the grammar police. However, if it becomes obvious to us that you have not made a legitimate attempt to make your story as reader friendly as possible we WILL ezmail you a warning to edit your fanfic to comply with our standards within 48 hours or it will be deleted.

If we issue you a warning or you are unsure about proper grammatical procedure we recommend that you enlist a beta reader to check your story for grammatical problems, i.e. spelling errors, punctuation problems and/or paragraph breaks. You can request a beta or volunteer as a beta reader for someone else in the Fanfic Discussion forum. Alternatively you can ask a friend to read through your story or ezmail one of your favourite authors for assistance (remember that they may not have the time to help you but it's always good to try and learn from those you respect).

We hope that you all understand that these rules don't exist to be unnecessarily harsh nor are we only interested in keeping readers happy. These rules exists for writers as well - to help you learn and improve the quality of your work.

Best wishes,

The Mods
