Posts: 7896 (09/21/05 21:25:21) A-Dohring Fan Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None So, I watched the first episode and I thought the case was clunky and some scenes cringe-worthy in execution (opening scene with Angela and the airport guy case in point), some of the dialogue was just ack! However, I really liked the chemistry between Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz and I genuinely already liked all of the characters (even the supporting ones), so I decided to give it a few more eps and I'm glad I did. I just got around to watching the 2nd episode and the case was better, no clunkiness, no cringing, no horrible dialogue and I think that Bones and Booth (ED and DB) are just utterly delightful together. Plus, Temperance Brennan (Bones) is just a way cool character! So, I'm really enjoying this one. Anyone else? God, I Love Those Boots ...

The husband and I have always liked DB, so we watched the first two eps, mostly for him. I liked the initial foundations of the premiere, especially the quirkiness of the two main characters, and the show only improved in the second episode. I like DB more when he shows some humor (he has a great smirk that always cracks me up) and Temperance Brennan is so wildly inappropriate / social pyriahish, it makes me laugh out loud, at times when I shouldn't. I like the banter and relationship between Bones and Booth, but I think I need more time and development before I buy any type of romantic chemistry.

I also really like that Boreanaz has a character that he can have fun with. I was knocked out at how vivacious and charismatic he was in real life and it is great that he gets to show that. On the other hand, the "mysteries" are pathetic. Even though I love how Temperance deals with people in the real world, I can tell who the killer is from a mile away and they are distracting at how badly executed they are. They need to work on making the A stories more involving and less by the numbers, but the B (personal) sub plots are great. I am worried that Fox will not stick with the show if they don't get better. They have a long history of screwing over Joss and his friends (Firefly, the Inside, Tru...).

With that said - I really liked the first episode. I don't love it by any means. They have a lot of things they need to tighten up and improve but I do think think DB and ED have terrific chemistry. I like the supporting characters also. Best of all - I like seeing DB getting a chance to do something different. He looks nice in his suit and I've always enjoyed his more light-hearted episodes too. Some of the moments were a little jarring in the first episode and surely some of the producers have watched CSI or Law and Order and could have handled that whole getting the gum DNA a little better but overall I like the characters. And in formulaic shows I have to like the characters to come back to it.

I watch them for the characters and interaction (probably why I'm not a big CSI fan) and I'm really enjoying the character and interaction on Bones. And to add to your comments, while not the biggest DB fan, I really enjoyed him away as Angel away from Buffy because he was more light-hearted, and I like seeing DB able to play with that lightness here. It's good to see. I was iffy on ED from the promos, but I liked her in the first episode and she pretty much completely won me over in this second one. She's cool. God, I Love Those Boots ...

David B seems like he is trying to hard to be something. I am not sure what. And the second episode had too much in your face "these two must like each other NOW" without any real setup, backstory, or realness to it. Plus, both cases were horribly boring. I also can't stand the fake car driving scenes. I love the DC landmarks though, David B is pretty to look at, and I like the two male scientists. I will probably keep tivoing it for when I am folding laundry or awake with the baby. :)

Maybe it's a lingering fondness for DB from Angel but I just like him. I loved the end of the episode last night where he was defining his space in the restaurant. And though it was a little cliche I kind of liked Zach's ongoing help me be better at the gal thing and especially Booth's if you ask me I'll shoot you. The mystery was again kind of pedestrian but I'll keep watching it for DB. Temperance is getting less grating also. I think now that they've established her "character quirks" they are lightening up on that a little.

This is so my favorite new show of the season. I just love it!!! And Temperance is so cool, I love her!! Hart Hanson wrote some of the best Joan of Arcadia episodes (notably Jump - science fair, first Joan/Adam kiss) and he seems to be getting the feel for this more each episode and Stephen Nathan (another former JoA staff) directed or wrote this ep. I just love it. God, I Love Those Boots ...

The mysteries are pathetic, but the potential is there for some great tv. I love David and Temperance both, and I'm glad they gave David a serious girlfriend. I hope they don't push the romance angle to much yet, even though I love the pushy co-workers. You can we have a hiates for football, so hopefully it will be back soon. It has completly double booked me on Tuesdays. I wish they would move it to another night, like Monday or Thursday. I've had to drop Gilmore Girls to watch Bones, and NCIS at 8:00 (I've got my sister watching GG and filling me in) I've got Supernatural at 9:00 with World series of Poker, and I've got L&O SVU at 10:00 with World series of Poker. Thank god for Tivo it takes me till Wednesday to watch all that I tivoed Tuesday. Whew!

Man, Lost just can't win with me. I chose Martha Stewart: Apprentice over it which is ending in December. I figured I would be able to watch Lost regularly now,b ut nope. Bones is my favorite new show so that will definitely be chosen over Lost. Ah well, Lost just stays in the download category. Logan's Naked Back is Pretty! -- My LJ
