With a new season of Veronica Mars underway comes new Episode Breakdowns from the LoVe Shack staff. We thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce the various features of our breakdowns to new and old members alike. We invite you to take the time to read a little bit about our breakdowns below, especially the description of each feature. For those that are new to the breakdowns, we hope this will tell you what they're all about. And for those who already know and love the breakdowns, there may be sections that are new or others that you hadn't yet discovered.

One of the great features of the LoVe Shack is the Episode Breakdowns. During the week following each new episode of the show, the LoVe Shack staff will be working diligently on the breakdown, which will be posted in the Main Discussion forum by Sunday. If you read the breakdowns, we'd love to hear what you think, whether it's commenting on a particularly witty observation of one of the staff, or to give your insight on something from the episode. So please don't hesitate to comment on them in the individual breakdown threads.

In addition, over the last few months we are working on updating the breakdowns to make them all consistent. This has entailed some serious overhauling of most of the Season 1 breakdowns in order to make them as comprehensive and entertaining as the ones we did for Season 2. You can find all the breakdowns in the Season 1 and Season 2 Episode Breakdown forums. Those that have been stickied at the top of each forum are complete, and we are working on the others as fast as we can. So check out our new and improved breakdowns and relive your favorite episodes.

Below is a list with descriptions of all the Breakdown sections ("New" or "Updated" refer to sections that have been added or redone since we originally did the Season 1 breakdowns). Even if you don't read every section in a breakdown, there's sure to be something for everyone. So take a look:

  • *NEW* Report Card (Capsule Episode Review) - See how the LoVe Shack members and staff rated each episode and read a review of the episode's highs, lows, and in betweens.

  • Yearbook (Recurring & Guest Stars/Character Statistics) - Can't remember what previous episode a character was in? Find a list of all recurring and guest stars for each episode, along with their previous episodes. Forgot how a character fit into the MotW? Read character descriptions in "Who's Who in Neptune." Can't figure out where else you've seen an episode's guest star? Check out the "Hey! It's that Guy/Girl!" section.

  • *NEW* Drama Club (Performances: Highlights and Lowlights) - Were you blown away by one of the performances this week? Whether it's our star, Kristen Bell, our favorite LoVe interest, Jason Dohring, one of our other regulars, or even this week's guest star, the Drama Club Highlights features those actors who really shined in each episode, with an analysis of their fantastic performance. On the flipside, did one of the regulars have a really off week? Or did the recent stunt cast reality star end up not being able to, well, act? Read about it in the Drama Club Lowlights.

  • *UPDATED* Chemistry (The Analysis of LoVe Scenes) - Aaah. What we're all here for. Our lovely JenniferH breaks down every LoVe scene (and even some that just relate to LoVe). Whether it's sniping, making out, or even just exchanging glances, there is analysis to be made.

  • *UPDATED* Journalism (The Mystery of the Week) - Whether it's stolen credit cards to kidnapped dogs to missing brides, our favorite P.I. is on the case. Follow along as Veronica follows the clues. From your favorites to those that didn't quite pique your interest, we find plenty to talk about (celebrate, analyze, mock--take your pick). So give it a whirl--we promise to make it fun!

  • *UPDATED* Study Hall (Miscellaneous Plot Details) - It might not be part of the MotW or the season mystery, but if it happens on Veronica Mars, we've got it covered. From Logan and Weevil in detention to Keith's love life to the standings of Mr. Pope's portfolio race, read about it here.

  • *UPDATED* Extra Credit (Clues to the Season Mystery Arcs) - Who killed Lilly Kane? Who sent a school bus off a cliff? Follow the clues to these and the other season mysteries in Extra Credit.

  • History (Flashbacks) - From a limo party on homecoming night to Logan at the door to Xterra make out sessions, read descriptions of the flashbacks in each episode.

  • Band Class (The Music of Veronica Mars) - Did you love the song that was playing at the end of an episode and are dying to know what it was? Find out in Band Class, where we list the songs used for each episode and include fun scene descriptions. New songs are added as they are identified.

  • *UPDATED* Literature (LoVe Lines/In Memory/Quotable Quotes) - ~ "Well you know what they say, Veronica Mars, she's a marshmallow." ~ "That's this close to taking a hot cousin to your prom." ~ "Chicks dig scars and acronyms." ~ "I thought our story was epic, you know? You and me." ~ Veronica Mars has given us a ton of memorable lines -- some are witty and hilarious, others are poignant and insightful, still others are romantic and heartbreaking. In LoVe Lines we give you every word exchanged between Logan and Veronica; In Memory brings you our favorites from flashbacks, and Quotable Quotes brings you the best of the rest.

  • *UPDATED* Social Science (In Reference To ... Pop Culture & The World) - What do Alyssa Milano, the French Revolution, spelunking, Nietzsche, and Scrabble have in common? They've all been referenced on Veronica Mars, and you can find them all in our Social Science section. This show is rife with references to pop culture, literature, history, sports, medicine, geography, music, you name it. From the most common to the most obscure, learn all about them here. Links, lyrics, and pictures are frequently included. So even if you think you know it all on any given subject, there's sure to be something new. Or just something to make you laugh.

  • *UPDATED* Homeroom (On Second Viewing, Get a Clue) - From posters in the school hallway to fashion choices to what characters or actors are doing in the background, we watch each episode carefully to catch ever little thing that deserves a second mention.

  • *NEW* Pep Squad Practice (Ambiguously (Or Not) Gay Logan Moments) - We all love Logan, for many, many reasons. And if it were any other character, those moments listed in Pep Squad Practice would really make us wonder. But with Logan, it just makes us love him more. So whether he's quoting Babs or referencing musicals, doing cheers or hopping with joy, read about it here.

  • *NEW* Detention (While the Censors Were out to Lunch ...) - Rim job? Dirty Sanchez? The shocker, anyone? What slipped past the censors this week? Go to Detention to find out!

  • Philosophy (Unanswered Questions) - Every episode of Veronica Mars leaves with questions, and we list them all. Some are silly and trivial ("Why did Lynn want an alpaca?"), others are for more important ("What was Lilly's secret?"). Some will be answered later, others will forever leave us guessing. Read them over, maybe you have answers to share!

  • *UPDATED* Principles of Democracy (Hindsight is 20/20) - When we learn something in a later episode that puts something from an earlier episode in a new light, we go back to the original breakdown and mention it here. For example, does the revelation in "Return of the Kane" that Logan was abused change how we see his reaction to getting champagne spray on his dad's tux in "The Wrath of Con"?
