I think we don't have episode threads because we've been largely discussing them all together in the LV thread and the spoiler/foiler threads as they get posted. *shrugs*

A stolen kiss. Literally. So Piz ended up being the more forceful, 'want/take/have' guy after all. I don't think either Duncan or Logan kissed her without permission before. Hehehehehehe. Maybe Piz is more 'manly' than either of them *snort*. I doubt this means much because I'm sure while she's protesting the eyes will be saying: "PASH ME YOU SEXY BEAST!" It's kind of like when Logan said making out with her was 'wrong'. I think I'm taking this spoiler with a grain of salt, not because I think it's untrue, but because I'm not expecting V to put up any kind of protest when the actual kiss happens so her protest won't be much more than a token.

But I'll laugh if that's how it really goes down. Are they seriously going to try and sell that Veronica is the one that will find it hard to get over Logan? Seriously? I mean . . . seriously? After I watched Postgame Mortem? Logan moves on and is showing hardly any residual feeling but Veronica is the one umming and ahhing over moving on? Seriously??? Did they swap brains? After all this build up they're actually going to try and get me to sympathise with her by hoping I forget what I saw throughout this season? Good plan! Yep. Veronica totally loved Logan more, that bastard. Go be with Piz, V, you deserve to be TRULY LOVED. And bangs, you deserve a guy with real bangs to hold on to.

(ETA: The reason this is so sarcastic is that this spoiler makes it even more apparent to me that Veronica is going to try and move on with Piz but will only really cement her decision when Logan goes nuts. Then she'll kick him out of her life completely and reaffirm her relationship with Piz without the umming and ahhing. Because Logan is bad, and she shouldn't have any residual pining for him especially since said pining is pretty random considering how she was acting in 3.13.)

Damn, why couldn't I accept this crap and be on her side? If I was on her side I could probably watch the damn show. Alas, I'm just rolling my eyes at this token protest because I'm just picturing her going, "Oh no, we couldn't possibly, you're best friends with Wallace and it's too complicated (ha!), we should just--" [Piz swoops in for a kiss and knocks her brain out with his glorious lip smackage and she ends up swooning as she's never swooned before. Cue elevator doors opening and Logan bearing witnress to the start of the show's true OTP...*cue mass vomiting in the audience*]

Piz/Veronica was the ship that had the most foreshadowing of either relationship and this kind of late manipulation to make her look the victim of the LV train seriously annoys me. Especially when we know she's going to go from the token protest to having hot, passionate sex with Piz in three episodes. He must be the best boyfriend ever because in Veronica land that's warp speed. But Logan moved on first so . . . if he's heartbroken in the end he deserves it (that part's not really sarcastic, actually), it's not like she dumped him and said she was never getting over what he did or anything.

I originally liked that they didn't foreshadow Parker/Logan as heavily because it meant I could accept it when it happened, rather than hating it from the outset when it got stuck in my throat. That's what happened with Piz/Veronica - they shoved it at me from every direction until I couldn't help but resist. Now they're pretending it wasn't shoved at us by making it the slower couple out of the two. I hate that. Because it makes Parker/Logan look even more contrived: "We gave this other couple basically no backstory because because it's all about VP. We only put them together so you guys looked like saints, so don't worry about them, Parker won't be in most of these episodes anyway."

I mean, I now wish they had given me some Parker/Logan buildup so that Logan looked like a real jackass for moving on first. As it is Piz/Veronica has been the ship we saw coming all season and it feels like a weak, token gesture to suppress it and play 'blame Logan' again at this late stage. Why couldn't Veronica move on first? She's done it before (offscreen). Plus, she broke up with him . . . it looks weird that she's pouting over Parker/Logan when she didn't want him. I suppose it's true that you never lose a quasi-possessive side in terms of your ex's though so I'll accept that).

I don't know why they foreshadowed one couple and not the other though, or why they didn't at least make it even. Piz had so much foreshadowing of VP love in his scenes that we basically know nothing else about him. Balance people, balance. 'Lack of time' is not an excuse especially when it's causing me serious problems in empathising with Veronica since she would have to be the QUEEN of denseville to have taken as long as she did to pick up on Piz's crush.

It's just . . . blegh. The whole thing feels as forced as Piz's first kiss. The fact it's contrived right outside Logan's door so he gets to bear witness to it is even more ridiculous. I am wondering what his reaction will be though. He seemed to be sad-faced and mopey in the tiny shot we had of him in the background of their kiss. If that's how he reacts I'll hate it because I remember the scene of AWESOME SUBTEXT from "Driver Ed" when they ran into each other after being with other people. Logan used to hide emotions when he was hurt, now they just flap out there in the breeze. It's annoying and uncharacteristic and I wish JD and the writers would stop that. So I'm hoping we get to see some of the old season two wall. Not necessarily snark, but you know that blank face he had when he walked past her in Driver Ed? That! I want to see that face as he opens the door to his room and doesn't look back. I miss the Logan who wouldn't let his enemies see him weak (and in this situation they totally would be his enemies, you don't see him making out with Parker on Veronica's doormat do you?).

But yeah. Hmm. I don't know how to take Veronica saying she just wants to be friends with Piz. Maybe she doesn't mean it and that's why Piz kisses her anyway. Maybe it's one of those breathy scenes where the eyes are saying 'yes' and she's only paying lip service to "no." (And I realize I totally sound like a rapist but those scenes are in every romantic film/book/tv show ever written). KB is good at saying no and yes simultaneously (just look at her "snuggly" scenes with Logan where the mouth says "yes" and the body says "Unhand me you rogue!").

Ps - I'm starting to get bummed because all the guest stars I actually wanted to see again in this season don't seem to be coming back. Probably because they were connected to Logan. I'm so pissed off that they did a lame long-lost half-brother storyline and then dropped it. I only accepted it because we'd get to see Logan interract with family again, but then they dropped it so now Charlie Don't Surf really does suck ass. I liked Charlie and Heather best and it looks like we'll be getting neither because that would take expanding Logan's solo character outside of a love interest.

*pouts*

Why couldn't those Charlie is coming back spoilers have been true . . . so much wasted potential *shakes head* But I guess they couldn't bring him back because he was a great chance and a great symbol of character growth in Logan since Charlie seemed level headed and a good role model. That doesn't gel with what they want Logan to become so that Veronica can grow out of him at the end of the season.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh God, *wipes tear away*. No, no, stop - it's too much.

Are they serioulsy trying to make these last five as bad as humanly possible? This retcon is especially bad given that Veronica has actually mentioned this year that she'd sooner drink bathwater than whatever a frat party gives her. Dick is from a frat. She also knows that Dick gave Madison (his girlfriend) a roofied drink. But, oh yeah, all Madison's fault. Dick would never do that. Whatever, Veronica Mars, whatever.

And that totally ruins whatever buzz I had for the elevator scene. Because clearly Dick is for some strange reason being buddy-buddy with her, offering her the flask as consolation, rather than ripping into her with quips about Parker/Logan. Oh, Dick Casablancas, you have failed me. *shakes head* You're not even useful for the only reason I still enjoyed you on the show, being the only character that still calls Veronica on her crap.

Even if they wanted him to offer her that flash, Veronica should have said when she sinks that low it'd be better to jump in front of a car. GRRRR. Freakin retcons. Don't even let me enjoy Dick's spite. I mean Dick is having Veronica's back . . . the person he thought did nothing but jerk Logan around?

What does she mean break your heart and then make it leap out of your chest? Leaping out of your chest is usually a good thing. Does she actually think that anyone whose heart is "broken" by Piz and Veronica kissing, would be as swept away by the yeegahds-passion of it as Veronica that they'd be converted?

Anyone who's going to get their heart broken by that kiss are not likely to change their mind. It's the people who couldn't give a toss that might like the fact they're telling us Veronica suddenly has this deep passion for Piz. Becuase Piz/Veronica will be happy, bubbly and uncomplicated - exactly what the doctor ordered for people sick of the way they've portrayed LV as a constant, melodramatic angst fest (they didn't seem to want to portray the light, ecstatic side of LV that originally made us love them in S1, despite all the darkness that was happened at the same time). Piz/Veronica is exactly what the doctor ordered for people who think LV is too heavy and it's weighing the show down, which is the exact reason I feel LV was written that way this season. They made it so heavy, slow and unpassionate that people got fatigued and now we'll be injected with light, happy, lusty love via Piz/Veronica. It's too bad I've been paying attention to this all season and I know LV weren't originally portrayed. I think a lot of people are going to like Piz/Veronica however when it happens because it's been written into the fabric of the whole season as a positive contrast to LV.

I still find it incredibly amusing that Logan, the character they've made the most sensual on the show, was so tame and placid with Veronica. Hardly any touching, no makeouts aside from the two short kisses we got when they were making up in which they either walked off camera or shut the door in our faces. Now they're going to tell us that LV was not a passionate couple - if we didn't see it, it didn't happen no matter what fanfic tries to say - and Piz is the really passionate character with V. Logan's too worried about fighting but all Piz wants it to be a great lover.

Excuse me while I hurl, I didn't realize they were mutually exclusive categories. Here I thought Logan loved sex and expressing his desire for people. But maybe it's not Logan. Maybe it's Veronica who can only react passionately to someone when she really, really wants them. And we're going to get that with Piz/Veronica and I'm so, so insulted that they think I'm going to accept some kind of token fight from her in episode sixteen when clearly she's all over Piz in the subsequent episodes (and this kiss is enough to change her mind, it's THAT good).

The only way I could fathom making sense of Piz/Veronica is if he was her safe option: comforting and friendly and not a character that drove her to extremes. But it seems he is his own extreme: he stirs great passion in Veronica, passion we haven't seen her express for Logan. In which case there's nothing we can do to naysay that.

I just think Rob is such a liar when he said he wrote LV to be something worth fighting for. Because he didn't show us the reward for the fight. If something is worth it, there's a positive side. But he didn't give us highs, he gave us lulls and lows and chasms. Plus, if what spoilers are indicating is true, then the final "moral" of the story is not that LV is worth fighting for. It's that LV should be fought against because it's not good for Veronica, it's some kind of weakness: Logan is a bad seed who'll never change, is going to become his father and is thus bad for her.

If anything the moral is showing Veronica that LV is not worth fighting for and that makes more sense with the way it was being portrayed when they were together. It's just too hard and she should put it behind her. That's what I'm getting from these spoilers, not that it would be good if Veronica is strong, takes the path less travelled by and realizes that Logan is the person that gets her, understands her and will always stand by her even when they're apart. Nope. It's far less complicated to just have an arc where he can go violent and we can blame him for all their problems, that way Veronica doesn't have to worry about growing, or reflecting on her own choices and the fact she might have overreacted to the news Logan slept with someone while single. I originally became invested in this show because it was a struggle and the fight was portrayed as being worth it. Now? The struggle isn't worth it and V will be happier with Easy Option. The moral makes the story something I'd stop reading halfway through because it's not a message that appeals to me on any aesthetic level.

Maybe that's why I find these last five episodes so unpalatble (one of the many reasons). The "moral" of the story is that the easy option is better. That we shouldn't fight if the fight is too hard. That we are doomed to be our parents so we might as well not even try to be better people. If what I fear is going to happen actually does happen, then both Veronica and Logan are being told there's no point in trying to change. Logan changed so much this season but if it all amounts to nothing, he might as well regress and be who he used to be because that's how everyone sees him (on the show) anyway. If this is the big seasonal arc for Veronica then she's being told she doesn't have to accept her own flaws but point out all of Logan's (which isn't really a change) and "grow" by putting herself in the company of people who don't have flaws of their own (come on, Piz is cardboard, he has no flaws beyond the superficial). Thus they can help her carry the burden of her own problems while she doesn't have to strain herself to give anything back.

Maybe I just expect more from a heroine in a noir mystery. But it's like they're trying to give a message to all the tween girls not to put up with garbage from "bad boys" and to stand on their own with their nice boys. I didn't realize this show wanted to pander to tweens. I thought this show had more edge, well, it used to. But apparently it was all smoke and mirrors until the final curtain.
